There are a few ways you can tell between rev. 0 and rev. 1.

Lukaitu's clouds trail when Yoshi rides them in rev. 0.

Also, you can tell by Action Replay.

If the game ID is AYWE-C46D7E2C, you have rev. 0.

The catches?

You cannot push or smash things like crates, vases, blocks, switches, etc...
You also cannot collect eggs / keys / number balls (except by swallowing baddies)...
Throwing eggs or other thing will "Hit" the wall as soon as you throw them...
And morph bubbles will not work (amoung other things)!

This makes the completion of some stages impossible without additional codes...
